Tonight’s performance marks the 50th game of the year which Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has totaled 30 or more points. The last time a player reached this mark in an individual season: James Harden in 2018-19, with the Houston Rockets (57 such games).
With 31 points against the Jazz tonight, Gilgeous-Alexander has now scored 30 or more points v. 27 of the 29 opposing teams in the NBA this season. The only teams he has yet to do so against is the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Thunder play the Raptors on Fri. Mar 22 and the Bucks on Sun. Mar 24, as well as Fri., Apr. 12.
Shai is looking to become the fourth player to achieve this feat since the NBA has expanded to a minimum of 20 teams. Only one other player has scored 30 or more against all 29 team opponents in a single season since the league has expanded to 30 teams – James Harden in 2018-19. Michael Jordan (1986-87) and Larry Bird (1984-85) did so against all 22 team opponents when the league consisted of 23 total teams during those seasons.
