Meet Jamad Fiin: The Muslim Basketball Queen Breaking Barriers in Hijab | Shots Fired 🔥

Check out this segment from Shots Fired episode 8, hosted by Vince Chang, featuring Jamad Fiin. Jamad is a 22-year-old basketball player from Boston, Massachusetts, and a proud Somali Muslim queen who is changing the game for Muslim basketball players everywhere. She performs in hijab to break down prejudice and just may break some ankles in the process.

Starting at the age of 12 on the basketball court next to her mosque with her brothers, Jamad’s family was pressured by the community to have a girl play basketball. Despite some initial resistance from her mother, her father always had her back and convinced her to let Jamad play.

Waking up at 5am to work on her game, Jamad was the only girl in hijab playing basketball in her community at first. She played basketball for 4 years at Boston Latin High School, followed by 2 years at Clark University, Massachusetts, and then played at Emmanuel College, where she won back-to-back Great Northeast Athletic Conference championships D3.

In addition to Jamad, this segment highlights other Muslim basketball creators like Soufiane Bernoukh aka Halal Wrist, a Moroccan baller, and Nernie Macing.
