The Nets and Rockets Engage In a Fantastic Finish | January 16, 2019
The Nets defeated the Rockets, 145-142 tonight in overtime. James Harden led all scorers with 58 points (16-34 FG), to go along with 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the Rockets. This was Harden’s 2nd consecutive 55+ point game (Wilt Chamberlain was the last person to do so, Dec. 11 and Dec. 14, 1962). Harden is now averaging 40+ points per game over his last 20 games, becoming the 5th player in NBA history to do so [W. Chamberlain (515 consecutive games), E. Baylor (33 consecutive games), K. Bryant (23 consecutive games) and R. Barry (22 consecutive games)]. Harden now has four 50+ point games this season and thirteen for his career, passing LeBron James for the most in a career among active players. Jarrett Allen tallied his first career 20-point/20-rebound game with 20 points (10-19 FG) and a career-high 24 rebounds to lead the Nets. With the win, the Nets improve to 23-23, while the Rockets fall to 25-19 on the season.
